Atlético Mineiro defender Rafael Marques is hoping his knowledge of Internacional, picked up during his 3 years in Porto Alegre with rivals Grêmio, can give his side the edge when the 2 teams meet on Wednesday evening.

Marques, 29, won the 2010 Campeonato Gaúcho while with the blue half of Porto Alegre, and is expected to play in the game at the Beira-Rio due to Mineiro captain Réver being injured.

He said: “I had the opportunity to work three years here. I know the culture and know Internacional well. They must be thinking that this is a key game for them to win and help fight for the the Copa Libertadores qualification spots

“This makes the game decisive for both sides. Where I can help to provide information for our team, I’ll do it.”

Marques has been impressed with Inter this season and knows what his team must look out for.

“They are a team that organises itself well and are very strong on the counter-attack. So let’s try not to fall into that trap with them. We know that we have to score, attack with quality, and when we lose the ball we have to win it back well.”
