Fluminense coach Abel Braga is refusing to be drawn on whether his side are favourites for the Brasileirão title, despite Lancenet reporting they have an 81.8% chance of being champions.

Braga has seen his team lose just twice so far this season and currently have the best defence is the league, but the 60-year-old is wary for his team to get ahead of themselves and believes there could still be twists in the hunt for the championship.

Speaking to Rio radio station Rádio Tupi, the coach described his team’s performance as abnormal but also spoke with caution. The numbers might be pointing towards Fluminense being champions, but Braga can remember back to 2005, in his first stint in charge of the club, when his team lost the last 5 games of the season to finish outside the Copa Libertadores qualification spots, despite the being ‘99%’ sure to finish in the top 4.

He said: “We have only lost two games, one away and another unexpected, but it happened.

“The cool thing is that our group is very much down to earth. We are not giving a damn about the numbers. We’ll keep working game by game.”
