Former Vasco da Gama and Corinthians midfielder Morais is to end his retirement after just a few months and return to football.
Morais, 28, retired earlier this year after a series of medical concerns and with a view to looking after his father, Manoel, who suffers from both Diabetes and Parkinson’s disease.
Having been on-loan at Bahia, the player decided to call it a day with his own allergies to several antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs meaning that he too was struggling to recover from each injury setback.
Now, with his father’s health stabilised, the former Brasileirão, Série B and Copa do Brasil winner has chosen to return to football for the 2013 season.
“I remember that Ronaldo said ‘a footballer dies twice’,” Morais told Globo Esporte. “They die when they cease playing football and at the end of their life. To speak in good humour, I want to be resurrected.
“I want to play again. Of course, it’s important that it’s a strong team – I don’t need to be a hero.
“I suffered at Vasco, when the club went through tough times with no money. I always renewed my contract thinking it was heroic. It is full of heroes in the cemetery. I want to play and for a good club.”
