São Paulo star Lucas Moura angered a group of Coritiba fans following Sunday’s 1-1 draw, by handing his shirt to a teenage girl of their fan base.

The 21-year-old, who is moving to Paris Saint-Germain in January, caused hysteria in the stands after he was asked by a teenage Coritiba fan for his match-worn shirt.

A group of angry home fans immediately surrounded the girl and took the shirt and threw it back at the Seleção star, which meant police had to intervene.

Lucas said: “It is sad to see this kind of thing happen.

“A small girl of about 12 years, asked me for photos and autographs. I went to give her my jersey and Coritiba fans wanted to hit her and her father.

“I wish there was peace and not rivalry in our stadiums. Our country needs to improve a lot of things.

“I know I was naive in the story but I would never have thought that the fans would have this reaction, especially with a child.”

Lucas is held as a role model throughout Brazil with a huge fan base that usually transcends club rivalries, apart from on this occasion.

However, as you can see from the video below, the story had a happy ending as the young girl and her father went home unharmed, with Lucas’ São Paulo shirt.
