Tottenham Hotspur are linked with an £8 million move for Santos star Ganso, when the transfer window re-opens in January.
According to the Daily Mirror, the Premier League outfit have joined the race with São Paulo to sign the highly-rated attacking midfielder, as Andre Villas-Boas looks to replace Luka Modric, who departed for Real Madrid.
Spurs have reportedly turned their attention to Ganso after narrowly missing out in signing Portuguese midfielder João Moutinho for £22 million on deadline day.
Ganso’s future at the Vila Belmiro has been the subject of intense speculation recently, as the 22-year-old expressed his desire to leave Santos after contract negotiations broke down.
He was also quoted saying that “it would be a pleasure to wear the shirt” of cross-city rivals São Paulo, which upset many people at the club and fans alike.
Santos, who have already rejected approaches from São Paulo, only own 45% of the player’s rights so if Spurs were to make a move in January, any deal would be complicated by third-party ownership of the Seleção international.
