The deal reunites the 32-year-old with City boss Roberto Mancini, who he worked under for two seasons at the San Siro between 2006 and 2008.

The Premier League champions have yet to reveal the length of Maicon’s contract, but it is believed that the former Cruzeiro right-back has put pen to paper on a deal which will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2014.

”I’m very happy to have signed with Manchester City,” Maicon told City TV. ”I can’t wait to go to the Etihad Stadium and meet the fans that supported the club last year, and I hope they support me this year and we can bring a lot of good results. Cheers.”

Maicon, who has been capped 66 times by Brazil, spent six years at Inter having joined the Italian club back in 2006 from Monaco, winning four Serie A titles as well as one Champions League.
