Ganso, 22, is hoping to make a three-week recovery though, in order to aid Santos in a possible Copa Libertadores semi-final.
The operation will take place on Friday, with Ganso choosing to first take on Velez Sarsfield in tonight’s quarter-final, before undertaking the procedure.
Brazil face Denmark, USA, Mexico and Argentina in friendlies over the course of the next two weeks.
