The 30-year-old striker, who started his professional career at Flamengo, is currently without a club after being released by Corinthians earlier this month.

Corinthians had confirmed on Friday that Adriano’s contract with the club was officially cancelled for just cause, and as soon as Coutinho heard the news, he contacted the player to offer him Flamengo’s training facilities.

”I heard about Corinthians’ statement and then I rang Adriano. He was excited and he said: ‘I will present myself on Monday’,” Coutinho told Globoesporte.

”Adriano is coming back. He is not back yet, but he’s coming back. He didn’t want to talk about a contract, just about his recovery.”

Coutinho also revealed that Flamengo will not need to provide Adriano with a nutritionist, because the former Brazil international is ‘skinny’.
