Since arriving at the Camp Nou from Sevilla in 2008, Alves has established himself to become one of the best full-backs in the world.

Speculation in the past had suggested that he was targeting a move away from Barça, with Manchester City often linked with a big-money approach.

However, although not completely ruling out the possibility of a departure in the future, the 28-year-old is determined to continue winning more trophies with the Catalan club.

”It is my objective to retire at Barcelona. I want to extend my stay here as long as possible and want to continue to fight for silverware,” Alves told Sport.

”However, you never know what happens in football. One day a transfer is not even an option, and the next day you can be on the move. I intend to retire at Barca, though.”

Alves’ contract with Barcelona runs until the summer of 2015.
