In ordinary time, Elkeson gave Botafogo the lead, after Herrera sprang the offside trap to square it to the midfielder, who easily guided the ball in to the back of the net.

However five minutes later, Leandro Euzebio got Fluminense back on level terms, managing to beat Botafogo’s offside trap to then curl his shot around Jefferson.

A shootout was needed to settle the contest and it was Lucas’ and Loco Abreu’s missed penalties that handed Fluminense the victory (4-3).

The Tricolor will now meet Vasco in the final on Sunday. The last time the two sides met, the Cruz de Malta won 2-1.
