Vagner Love gave Flamengo the lead in the 2nd minute with a strike from twenty yards, but just over ten minutes later Vasco managed to get back on level terms, after Juninho’s rebounded shot was headed in by Alecsandro.
The Rubro Negro had a golden opportunity to re-take the lead ten minutes before the interval, but Deivid somehow missed an open goal from three yards out, having scuffed his effort on to the post.
Vasco’s winner came in the 77th minute, when keeper Felipe palmed away Fagners header, only for Diego Souza to follow up with a header of his own which found the back of the net.
