São Paulo continue in their efforts on bringing Walter Montillo to the Morumbi having reportedly made a second offer for the Argentine on Monday.

Last week the Tricolor offered Cruzeiro €6 million plus Henrique, Carlinhos and Jean in exchange for the Raposa’s number ten. That bid was rejected by Cruzeiro’s President, Gilvan Tavares, who insisted he would only let the Argentine player leave if a club came in with a €15 million offer.

Now Cruzeiro’s director of football, Dimas Fonseca, revealed that the Tricolor have come back with a second bid, upping their offer to €10 million, as well as allowing the Mineiro club to choose any player of their choice to take to take out on loan.

”São Paulo have made an offer of around €10 million, plus they will allow us to loan two or three of their players from their squad that we can choose, with the exception of Rogério Ceni, Luis Fabiano and Lucas. All the other players we can talk to,” Fonseca told Rádio Itatiaia.

”We’ve been discussing some names and they (São Paulo) have sounded out the players to see their interest in coming to Belo Horizonte, but the values did not add up to what Doctor Gilvan (Cruzeiro’s President) stipulated.”

São Paulo’s arch rivals, Corinthians, are also keen suitors and had already offered Cruzeiro €8 million, which was immediately rejected.

Montillo has stated that he wants to play in next year’s Libertadores and out of the two Paulista clubs, only Corinthians have qualified for the South American tournament.
