São Paulo are looking to purchase Botafogo’s 50% of Cortês’ economic rights for a fee of approximately £2.5 million. The other half of the player’s rights would remain with Nova Iguaçu, who are happy to see the deal proceed, with the hope of a larger future profit.
Now, all that remains is for the details to be finalised, including the full-back’s wages should he move to the club.
“Napoli sent a proposal, but Sao Paulo have been more eager,” said agent Flavio Trivelli. “Cortês will be highly visible playing for São Paulo. it is great for him professionally.”
