The move is an indication of the Minas Gerais club’s change of stance from recent years and determination to retain their top talents ahead of the 2012 season.

In order to raise transfer funds therefore, manager Cuca will have to look to the club’s army of players loaned elsewhere in 2011 for player sales. Amongst those rumoured to be heading for the exit door are Caio, Rafael Cruz and Patric.

With a strong finish to the season, confidence amongst the Belo Horizonte club’s supporters is high and the news that they are no longer in the business of selling their top talents can only improve supporter mood.
