The loss of the left-back just adds to the break-up of Figueirense’s successful side this campaign, with several players and manager Jorginho already heading for the exit-door with their reputations greatly enhanced.

Palmeiras have already agreed to cede Gabriel Silva to Udinese in January and thus, moved fast to secure the best possible alternative. Only this week, Juninho was voted as best left-back of the Brasileirão season by both Sambafoot and Placar magazine.

The Verdão have purchased 25% (10% from the Sugarloaf group and 15% from the agent Eduardo Uram) of the player’s economic rights for a bargain £250k, with Banco BMG now owning 35% and the Sugarloaf group 40%.

The player’s contract will run until the end of the 2014 season.
