Vasco fought to renegotiate a loan deal with Benfica in June, when the initial twelve month loan expired, but have been informed by the Portuguese side that they will no longer loan the 26-year-old.

Éder Luis has become a key member of the Vasco side, with his pace and link-up play with Fágner in the right-hand channel a feature of the Rio de Janeiro side’s play. He will continue to link up with the side until the end of the 2012 Copa Libertadores, unless a new deal can be agreed.

Speaking to Lancenet! from his home in Minas Gerais, the striker said: “I will not speak of a farewell, because I really want to stay here and I know that the Vasco board will make an effort to make it possible.

“My mind is focussed on what will be a wonderful year for Vasco in 2012.”
