After it was confirmed Mariano had agreed to sign with French side, Bordeaux on Wednesday evening, the Figueirense right back confirmed in a telephone interview with Globoesporte, that he would be Mariano’s replacement at Fluminense next season.

”I think that the chances of me joining Fluminense is 99%, but there are still other possibilities, so I’d rather not confirm anything just yet. But I can confirm that things are well under way, especially after they (Fluminense) agreed to let Mariano go,” said Vieira.

According to sources close to Fluminense, the Tricolor club began negotiating a deal with representatives of the Figueirense player ten days ago.

Other clubs reportedly interested in the full-back are International, Botafogo, Flamengo and Sao Paulo.
