The former Brazilian international started his career with Palmeiras in 1992. Having spent nineteen years at the Paulista club, the thirty eight year old goalkeeper is expected to retire at the end of the season. The Palmeiras idol’s contract ends on 31st December 2010, and the club aren’t expect to extend it.

Marcos hasn’t played for Palmeiras since their 1-1 draw to Avai in September, missing out on the last eleven games. With just three games remaining of Palmeiras’ season, Marcos return to the side seem looks in real doubt as he’s unable to recover from his knee injury.

When coach Scolari was asked about what Marcos’ chances were on pulling on the Palmeiras shirt on again, the former Chlesea coach said, ”playing, I find it very difficult. If he cant play now, playing next year is almost impossible. However, as a person, a team member, the face of our team, he should continue.”
