After their fifth consecutive win, and going twelves games with out a defeat, Figueirense ended Saturday night fifth in the table, which is the last remaining spot that could qualify them in to next year’s Copa Libertores. The Santa Catarina side will now be hoping Flamengo and Internacional slip up in their games Sunday evening in order to remain in the Libertadores zone.

Following Figueirense’ 1-0 win against title challenges Botafogo, Coach Jorginho is now determined to get his side qualified for next years Copa Libertadores. He told the press, ”Our team is very organised, this is essential for us to get where we want. Now we need to put the Libertdores in our hearts.”

Figueirense goal scorer, Julio Cesar wants his side to stay focused with just five games remaining in the league. Cesar said, ”let’s keep our feet on the ground. We still have to face some tough opposition. The important thing is were a young team with a great will to win.”

Next up for the Figueira side is Atlético Mineiro who are also in fine form, losing just one game from seven.
