Muricy is considered to be one of the best coaches in Brazil, being widely respected like Ferguson is across England and the rest of Europe. The 55 year old has won the Campeonato Brasileiro four times with São Paulo (3) and Fluminense (1). Muricy also guided Santos to South American glory, winning the Copa Libertadores this year.
When asked about Ferguson’s achievements by Brazilian network Rede Globo, Muricy said, ”Ferguson has only been at United for so long because he works in England. Here in Brazil things are different. If he coached a club in Brazil today and drew on Saturday his place is under threat already.”
Muricy then commented on Arsene Wengers long stay with Arsenal, saying, ”Arsene Wenger has been at Arsenal for a long time too, with his good looking suit, his hair all done, but he doesn’t win anything.”
