It was feared Ronaldinho could of faced a suspension of up to twelve games, because the Flamengo number ten’s innocent involved ‘physical agression.’ In Article 254-A of the Brazilian Code of Sports Justice, if a player uses physical aggression during a football match, the ultimate penalty could be a suspension of up to twelve games. This would of meant Ronaldinho would of missed out on Flamengo’s six remaining league fixtures in the their quest to qualify for next years Copa Libertadores.
Instead the STJD banned the Flamengo number ten for one game. Ronaldinho has already served his suspension, missing out on Flamengo’s 1-1 draw against Santos.
Ronaldinho is now cleared to play in Flamengo’s crunch tie with Cruzeiro on Sunday.
Mean while, Ceará’s Heleno got given a two match ban. Having already missed out on playing against Atlético Paranaense. The Ceará midfielder will now miss out on relegation six pointer clash against Avai this Sunday.
