Each training session currently brings a host of new reports and photos on the troubled star’s progress as he looks to get back on track and make the most of his considerable talent.

This Sunday’s fixture with Atlético-GO (20.00 London time) could well mark the return of Adriano to competitive action after two weeks solid training.

Alex, as with others at the club does not expect instant miracles, but hopes the centre-forward can help inspire Corinthians to a famous league title this campaign.

“Even if the Tite wanted to, there is not room for everyone on the field. But, this dilemma is for the coach,” said the left-sided star.

“Adriano will have to be on the field. He is different and has achieved much success in football.

“This needs to be given weight. It is natural that he would be in the team, because he can make a difference.”

Globo report that Adriano’s debut is as yet unconfirmed and is likely to be a maximum 30 minute substitute appearance, but just the sight of Adriano on the pitch will be a boost for the Timão.

Corinthians have many attacking options and have not struggled for goals this campaign. But with many short, technically gifted attackers, Adriano will provide a useful aerial threat given his sizeable figure.

“To be back playing was what he wanted. He is excited,” continued Alex. “He’s excited and that is good for us.

“It makes us happy to see that he is recovering. It is almost time now…”
