Sambafoot reported yesterday on Vasco’s intention to play a largely reserve side for the away leg of the tie and so it proved with the selection that started the game.

Despite the second-string side, Vasco took a well deseved lead before the break through a goal from Cruzeiro loanee Bernardo.

However, three second half strikes from the Bolivian side severely dented Vasco’s hopes of advancing in the tie, with the Brazilian side suffering greatly in the high altitude atmosphere.

Vasco will not be too affected by the result with the objective being a first Brasileirão title since 2000, with the side two points clear at the top with eleven games to play.

The second leg takes place at the São Januário on 26 October.
