The match continues both teams poor run of form, with Cruzeiro now nine games without a win and São Paulo now also four games since bringing home three points.

After eleven minutes Cruzeiro had the lead, with Barcelona-owned forward Keirrison marking his first goal for the club from a Montillo cross.

Later in the half Fábio would save well to deny Luis Fabiano from the spot, but São Paulo would make their breakthrough soon, when fifteen minutes into the second period Cicero reacted to Luis Fabiano’s pass to level the scores.

Moments later São Paulo were ahead through Dagoberto, but in what would become the theme of the second half, Cruzeiro were level again through Charles just five minutes later.

It was an enthralling end-to-end spectacle, with both teams hoping to emerge victorious.

For just four minutes it looked like São Paulo may have won the game, when some excellent play from Dagoberto set-up Juan for a goal. But, predictably Cruzeiro would level; this time through an Anselmo Ramon header, unmarked in the area.

São Paulo were missing Lucas and Ivan Piris to international duty, whilst the influential young midfielder Wellington missed out with suspension.

But any late São Paulo charge for a win was ified when Denilson was dismissed for a foul on Elber, the third red-card of his brief stay at the Morumbi.
