The 23-year-old joined United from Portuguese side Porto in 2007, and was an unused sub when he returned to the country with his current club on Wednesday, as they picked up a 1-1 draw with Benfica.

“Do I have a longing for Portugal? Yes,” Anderson told reporters after the game. “But I have been at Manchester United for four years and have another four years.”

The Brazilian had been in and out of the first team during his first four seasons at Old Trafford, but he has featured on a more regular basis so far during this campaign and looks to be asserting himself as a key player.
