A feast for Rogerio Ceni

However, the party is certainly going to be on, regardless of the result at Morumbi with the legendary keeper Rogerio Ceni making his 1000 th Paulista match appearance. Toinght isn’t going to be about the result, but instead celebrating the career of goalkeeper and captain Rogerio Ceni; a true living legend of São Paulo.

For this match, Dagoberto and Lucas will be holding their place in attack as Luis Fabiano who is finally set to return from his injury isn’t quite match fit and the young Argentine Cañete, is still out injured.

Vasco, currently third, host Coritiba with the objective to remove the memory of the heavy defeat at the red lantern. If they beat América-MG, there is a possibility they could go to the top of the Championship, if Corinthians and São Paulo don’t pick up points.

To catch up the potential points needed to keep in the race, Vasco can count on the return of their defensive rock, Dede who should make his comeback.

Botafogo on the lookout

Botafogo will play Ceara, where the former Lyon player Edmilson is having trouble holding down a place. Carioca club will be without defender Cortes, who is suspended but will have their goalkeeper Jefferson.

Last chance for Santos

Santos will play on the Avaya for a crucial meeting to  try and move away from the relegation for the second half of the season. With Santos seventeen points behind the leader, the title seems a far cry from the Peixe players who still have two games in hand.

Ganso’s injury against Ghana disrupts Ramalho’s plans but should replace him with the young Felipe Anderson, unless he plays with three strikers. If so, then Alan Kardeccould deputise as he has claimed this week he is in great shape.

Finally, the big game tomorrow between two of the teams in the title race. Corinthians v Flamengo. Sambafoot will preview this game tomorrow.
