BRAZIL 1-0 GHANA

Full-time: Brazil see out the closing moments, and hold on for a narrow win. They were not at their best, but there were some flashes of genius from the likes of Ronaldinho, and Damiao’s goal gave them victory. 90′: Almost curse of the commentator as Kwarasey spills a deep cross, but Elias, under pressure from the Ghana defenders, fires over. As that happens, it is announced that there will be two minutes of added time.

88′: Ronaldinho! The number 10 curls in a great free kick from just outside the area, but Kwarasey tips it on to the post and behind! The Ghana ‘keeper is in top form tonight!

86′: Prince Tagoe is on for Ghana, replacing Inkoom.

85′: Pato denied by a great save! He got on the end of a cross from Ronaldinho to head at goal from inside the box, but Kwarasey made another fine flying save to tip it over the bar!

81′: Dani Alves’ cross-field ball is well brought down by Pato on the run, but he fires over from a difficult angle 10 yards out.

80′: Good save! The resulting free-kick is taken by Ronaldinho, and deflects off the wall towards goal, but Kwarasey flies over to his left to make a fine save to turn it round the post.

79′: Neymar is again the victim of Ghana’s physical style. Inkoom brings him down and gets a yellow card.

77′: Brazil make their third change, as goalscorer Damiao is replaced by Milan striker Alexandre Pato.

76′: Emmanuel Badu is replaced by Albert Adomah for Ghana in their fifth change.

75′: Neymar goes down after being kicked by Addy, who is booked as a result. The Santos striker looks to be in soom pain as he receives treatment.

73′: The fans are getting louder, but on the pitch the chances are drying up, with the ball being passed around the midfield for most of the time at the moment.

71′: A wonderful noise inside the stadium, with a resounding chant of ‘Brazil! Ghana!’ Both teams’ fans have been in fine voice tonight.

70′: Ghana make another substitution, with Dominic Adiyah coming on for Ayew.

66′: Hulk almost gets on the end of Lucas’ through pass, but is beaten to the ball outside the area by Kwarasey, who charged off his line and cleared it to safety.

65′: Another change for Ghana, as Asamoah is replaced by Anthony Annan.

64′: Off the line! A corner leads to a chance for Lucio, whose shot is deflected up into the air by Kwarasey, and then headed away off the goal line by a Ghanaian defender!

63′: A brilliant sliding challenge from Mensah stops Marcelo from getting a shot in at goal.

59′: The ball sits up nicely for Marcelo, but on his weaker foot he fires in a poor effort from outside the area, which goes well past the keeper’s left-hand post.

57′: Dani Alves feints to shoot, deceiving Ayew, and then has an effort which flies wide from 25 yards out.

55′: Hulk almost has a shooting chance, but the ball is prodded away from him for a corner. There is a scramble, but Ghana get it clear.

52′: Asamoah shoots from the edge of the box, but it is too high and wide to trouble Julio Cesar.

50′: Almost 2-0 Brazil! Hulk’s whipped ball in is crying out for a finish, but just too far in front of Damiao and curls wide.

48′: A Mexican wave breaks out around the stadium. The fans are certainly enjoying themselves tonight!

46′: Brazil kick-off the second half!

Half-time: Substitutions at the break: Lee Addy is on for Derek Boateng, and Rabiu Mohamed for Muntari for Ghana, while Hulk has replaced Fernandinho for Brazil.

Half-time: Leandro Damiao on his goal: “There is no way to explain this emotion. It’s the dream of every player to wear this shirt and score a goal.”

Half-time: Ghana started the better, but Opare’s sending off changed the game, and on the stroke of half-time Damiao scored his first international goal to give Brazil the lead. Join us shortly for the second half! Brazil 1-0 Ghana.

45+1′: Marcelo fires over from outside the box. There will be one minute added time at the end of the first half.

45′: GOAL FOR BRAZIL! LEANDRO DAMIAO! Fernandinho played a lovely through ball, and Damiao finished across the goalkeeper with a precise finish from the right of the penalty spot! Brazil 1-0 Ghana!

41′: Neymar should score! He gets on the end of a knock-down from Damiao, but gets his header all wrong from 12 yards and it drifts well wide.

40′: A wild lunge on Damiao by Mensah gives Brazil a free-kick 25 yards out. Dani Alves’ effort is deflected behind off the wall for a corner, which is cleared by Ghana.

38′: The Brazil fans respond by loudly chanting the name of their captain. If nothing else, the red card has certainly increased the noise level!

37′: Lucio is now the target of the Ghana supporters, who are jeering his every touch.

35′: The decision is being loudly booed by the Ghana fans, who applauded Opare as he left the field. The second yellow did look harsh.

34′: Opare is sent off for Ghana! He left his foot in as Lucio cleared the ball, and received a second yellow card!

32′: Neymar fires in a coss from wide on the right, but it is just too high for Damiao, and ends up in the hands of Kwarasey.

29′: Fernandinho is booked for a foul on Jordan Ayew.

27′: Disallowed goal for Brazil! Neymar chipped a delightful pass through to Leandro Damiao, who finished over the advancing goalkeeper from inside the box. However, the Internacional striker was ruled to be in an offside position.

24′: Another chance for Ghana! A deep cross to the back post is met by an unmarked Inkoom, but he heads wide from close range.

21′: There is wonderful noise from both sets of fans in the stadium tonight, creating a carnival atmosphere all around the ground.

18′: Some intricate passing leads to a wonderful flick from Ronaldinho which almost lets in Lucio, but the defender’s control lets him down and the ball goes behind for a goal-kick.

17′: Brazil struggle to clear a Ghana corner, and Boateng takes aim from 30 yards, but his shot is weak and straight at the keeper.

15′: Muntari finds space on the edge of the penalty area, and beats a defender before firing straight at Julio Cesar.

14′: The first yellow card of the night goes to Opare for a foul on Neymar. Ronaldinho has a go from the free-kick, but it dips low into the hands of Kwarasey.

12′: Ghana are almost in! Dani Alves’ slip lets in Inkoom, but his cross his cut out by Lucio and Brazil are let off the hook.

10′: Ganso has been forced off with an injury, and has been replaced by Elias. The young Santos playmaker will be disappointed to leave the game so early.

7′: Asamoah backheels the ball to Muntari, who lets fly from 30 yards. The shot flies high over the bar however.

5′: Lucio goes close! He meets a free-kick at the back post, but it is turned behind for a corner by Kwarasey, which comes to nothing.

3′: Ghana force two corners in quick succession. The first is cleared by Brazil, before Jonathan Mensah heads the second over.

1′: Ghana get us underway!

19:45: First, a minute’s silence for Sly Tetteh of the Ghana FA, who died last Saturday.

19:44: The anthems are done, kick-off is due at any moment!

19:39: The teams are out on the pitch for the national anthems! The Brazil fans are in fine voice tonight, but the Ghana fans are giving them a run for their money!

19:35: These two sides have met twice before in senior internationals, with Brazil winning both without conceding a goal. Mano Menezes will be hoping to continue the trend tonight after recent criticism.

19:31: The teams have just been announced in the stadium, with Ronaldinho’s name receiving a huge cheer from the Brazil fans. Mike Dean will referee tonight’s game.

19:27: The sides have finished their warm ups and gone into the changing rooms. Kick-off is fast approaching!
