The 23-year-old chipped a fine pass through for Danny Welbeck, who headed United in front after 22 minutes. Robin van Persie missed a penalty for Arsenal, before the hosts extended their lead through Ashley Young and Wayne Rooney. Theo Walcott pulled one back to make it 3-1 at the break.
Rooney and Nani made it 5-1 before Anderson was replaced by Ryan Giggs on 68′. There was no let-up in the goals, as Park Ji-Sung added a sixth for the Red Devils. Van Persie gave Arsenal another consolation goal, but Rooney completed his hat-trick from the spot before Young completed the scoring.
Fabio da Silva was an unused substitute for United, who are now top of the table going into the international break. They are level on points with local rivals Manchester City, but have a better goal difference.
