The 21-year-old centre-back struggled with injuries last season and only started seven league games. He was linked with a move to his previous side, Sao Paulo, after seeming to be out of favour at the German club.
However, speaking to Kicker-Sportmagazin, Heynckes said: “Breno remains here, definitely. I am hoping he is going to cope with the workload. This would be important as I need to have a good alternative choice in terms of central defence.”
Breno seemed to have fallen down the pecking order after Bayern brought in defenders Rafinha and Jerome Boateng this summer. However, Heynckes comments suggest that he could get more playing time this campaign.
