The young striker has been linked with a move to some of Europe"s top sides, with Ribeiro previously announcing that the club had accepted five bids for the 19-year-old.

However, speaking to AS, Ribeiro said: “He [Neymar] will stay at Santos. That is my intention; my goal. I have spoken a lot with his father and we are going to restart those talks now.

“It would not make any sense for him to leave now," he continued. “Neymar is indispensible to us for at least another six months, but the desire of the player has yet to be defined."

Neymar has himself recently declared that he would be staying at his current club, while also stating in at the beginning of this month that he intended to honour his contract, which runs until 2015.
