All summer long Neymar has been linked with a big money move abroad. Chelsea and Real Madrid have been the clubs most strongly linked with a bid; with the Spanish side reported to at one point have been given permission to discuss personal terms.

Santos’ club president Luis Alvaro Ribeiro also stated at one point that five bids for the 19-year-old had been accepted, including the aforementioned teams as well as Barcelona, Manchester City and Anzhi Makhachkala.

However, Neymar himself had previously stated that he intended to honour his contract at Santos, and Sky Sports News reports that yesterday he told journalists in Brazil: “I’m staying at Santos.”

A decision on the young forward’s future had been put on hold while he was away at the Copa America with Brazil, but it seems now that his mind is made up and that he will not be moving any time soon.
