Casimiro scored his second goal in two games to give the hosts the lead on 13 minutes, but Gremio were level when the same player put the ball into his own net not long after half time. Ten minutes later, Marlos put Sao Paulo back in front, and Jean made the game safe with five minutes to go before Rafael Marques was sent off for the visitors in injury time.

Avai picked up their first point of the campaign with a 2-2 draw against America. Alessandro put America 1-0 up shortly before half time, and although Avai equalised through a 55th minute penalty from Julinho, the away side were back in front a minute later with a penalty of their own from Fabio Junior. Marcos Rocha was sent off for America in the closing stages, and from the resulting free-kick Cassio snatched a draw for Avai.

Cruzeiro remain in the bottom four after a 1-1 draw against Santos. Vinicius Simon was sent off for Santos on 50 minutes, who fielded a side largely made up of reserves ahead of the Copa Libertadores final. Five minutes later Cruzeiro went ahead thanks to a penalty from Walter Montillo. Santos secured a point thanks to a late equaliser from Borges.

Vasco da Gama were held to a 1-1 draw at home against Figueirense. Elton put Vasco in front, but a last minute goal from Aloisio ensured the points were shared.
