Pedro, a 16-year-old offensive midfielder, signed his first professional deal with Corinthians on March 4th. He is regarded as one of the most important discoveries of the Parque So Jorge club’s base in recent years.
In line with the regulations for young athletes, minor players may sign a contract for a maximum of three years. Pedro has a contract with Timo that runs through 2025. If any foreign club wants to acquire his services, they will have to pay a fine of €50 million (about R$280 million at current exchange rates).
“Today is a very momentous day in my and my family’s lives. It’s difficult for me to put into words how proud I am to have signed my first professional deal with this colossal club. “I have nothing but thanks for everyone who helped me make my dream a reality, particularly Corinthians for believing in my potential and providing me with this chance,” Pedro said on his social media page.

Pedro played in the most recent edition of the Copa So Paulo de Futebol Junior – which took place in January of this year – and, although being only 15 years old at the time, he scored a goal and helped his side defeat So José (2-0) in the group stage. Corinthians, on the other hand, were ousted in the third round of the competition, losing to Resende-RJ, and their rival Palmeiras were crowned champion.
The young youngster, who was born on February 5, 2006, has a lot of experience in Corinthians’ youth divisions. When he guarded Timao’s under-17 squad last year, he scored six goals in 14 games. He scored a goal in four games for the under-20s that year.
Pedro, who has been with Corinthians since he was nine years old, began his career with the club’s futsal team, where he made numerous successful plays in addition to scoring goals. He will continue to play for the Sao Paulo under-20 team for the time being. The offensive midfielder is awaiting a call-up to the Brazilian under-17 squad, where he will help prepare for the South American Championship in 2023.

Pedro has not yet been accepted into Corinthians’ professional team, but he may hope for it to happen soon, since the club has a history of offering chances to players who have completed the club’s basic categories.
Renato Augusto, Willian, and Paulinho are just a few of the well-known players on the Sao Paulo roster. Despite this, midfielder Du Queiroz, who was introduced by Timo, has carved out a place for himself in the starting eleven.

About Corinthians
Corinthians is one of the most successful clubs in Brazilian football history, having won two world championships (in 2000 and 2012). Timao, which was founded in 1910 and is based in Sao Paulo, play their games in the Neo Química Arena, which has a capacity of 47,000 supporters.
