The tricolor team took the lead at the beginning of the game, with Michel Araújo. Coxa tried to react, but the team from Rio killed the match in the second stage, with goals from Felippe Cardoso, Nino and Ganso.

The first half started in brilliant fashion for Flu. It was a good day for Araújo.

Hired by Fluminense at the beginning of the year, the Uruguayan had not yet opened the scoring with his tricolor shirt.  Fate had other plans in mind and waited till the player’s birthday to leave the opening goal. And it was a beautiful goal. The player hit a kick from outside the area, at Wilson’s angle, to open the scoreboard. That was the only goal of the first half.

The second half started in similar fashion and Flu continued to dominate the proceedings. There was eventual relief for Cardoso in the 61st minute. The young striker, loaned by Santos, had been criticized by the tricolor fans in previous games. On this occasion, he scored with his first touch of the ball after going past the goalkeeper and firing home.

Nino scored one more eleven minutes later before Henrique wrapped it up with the fourth goal from the penalty spot.

With the victory, Fluminense moved up on the table and are now in seventh place, with 17 points won so far. Coritiba, with the defeat, remained close to the relegation zone and occupies the 16th position, with 11 points added.

The tricolor team will return to the field next Sunday, against Botafogo, also at Nilton Santos, while Coxa will host São Paulo at Couto Pereira, on the same day.
