In a match on Saturday night, the Hurricane won 2-0 against the Tricolor at the Arena Castelão, with goals coming from Vitinho and Léo Cittadini. Both of those goals came in the first half. It was the perfect way for Dorival Júnior and company to start their campaign.

The empty stadium seemed to be against Fortaleza on the evening. Athletico-PR managed to beat Tricolor even with the way the latter played out. The tricolor went with a traditional game play, starting up from the back and holding most of the games possession.

Jonathan gave a cheeky cross to the feet of Vitinho, who scored the league first goal of the season in the 21st minute.

The second goal came from the mistake of the home team.

The defense and the midfielder Juninho clashed dropping the ball in the feet of Léo Cittadini, who put the ball away extending their lead.

In the second half, Fortaleza possessed the game, but without aim. With the introduction of “smooth kid” Yuri César didn’t change the dynamics of the game and wasn’t able to bring in goals in the offensive sector and cause problems to Jandrei’s goal.

It wasn’t a good day for the home team’s defense, who were below average. Juan Quintero was given a red card after tackling Nikão without getting the ball.

After losing their captain, Athletico-PR had control of the game. With a more and better distribution on the field they were able to manage the result.

With the result, Athletico-PR takes the lead of the competition, with three points. The Tricolor stays in the lower half still without a goal.
