Flamengo youngster Rafinha has put to bed speculation over his future by signing a new five-year contract with the Gávea club.
Rafinha, 19, has sprung to prominence this season, taking on an important role in the Flamengo first-team following impressive performances at youth level.
With his previous contract set to expire in March 2014, the pacey forward was linked with a move to Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain earlier this week. For now, though, it appears that he will remain in Rio de Janeiro for the time being.
It is thought that a release clause of around £35 million has been negotiated into the contract as Flamengo look to secure the player’s long-term future.
Thus far, in eight first-team appearances the forward has contributed two goals in the Carioca state championship.
Besides Rafinha, Lancenet also suggest that the Rubro-Negro have begun talks with fellow young prospects Rodolfo and Adryan over extending their stays at the club.
