Spanish magazine Sport are reporting that Neymar has asked Barcelona to sign him from Santos sooner than 2014.

The 20-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to the Catalan giants, with the same publication claiming a pre-contract deal is already in place.

Sport claim that Barca president Sandro Rossell has negotiated a deal with Santos where the Brazilian club would be forced to pay a fine of €40 million if Neymar moved elsewhere.

Now reports are emerging that as Santos have virtually no chance of qualifying for the Copa Libertadores 2013, Neymar wants to leave Brazil sooner than 2014.

Santos are currently ninth in the Brasileirão with 41 points, which is 11 short of at least fourth place and qualification for the Libertadores.

A quote in the report read: “Without the Copa Libertadores, [Neymar] is condemned to playing in a lower league and he believes that staying in Brazil is a waste of time."

Neymar is contracted to his boyhood club until after the World Cup, and the Seleção forward has reiterated his desire to honor the deal before moving to Europe.

The same publication reported in September that Paris Saint-Germain had asked Santos about the possibility of signing the attacker, but the Brazilian club informed the French side that the player is already committed to moving to Barcelona in the future.

However, Neymar’s official website have stated that “everything is speculation" as neither Neymar nor his father were approached by the publication, saying that “if they [Sport] did [ask], they would receive a ‘no" for an answer."
