Santos vice-president Odilio Santo Rodrigues says the club are interested in bringing former star Robinho back to Brazil from AC Milan.

The forward began his career with Peixe before leaving for Real Madrid in 2005, and had another spell on loan with the club from Manchester City in 2010.

Now Rodrigues has revealed that the 2011 Copa Libertadores winners have held talks with the player over the possibility of the transfer.

“It’s true, we are interested in Robinho,” he told Lancenet. “We have already spoken with him.

“There is a wish to do something during the transfer window at the end of the year, but nobody knows how much Milan will ask for him.

“Robinho called us a few days ago and we are often in contact, but he is a professional and has a contract in Italy. Let’s see what happens at the end of the year.”

The 28-year-old is currently out of action due to a thigh injury sustained on the opening weekend of the Serie A season against Sampdoria.
