Brazil legend Romario has called on the country’s president to sack Mano Menezes as manager of the national team.

Menezes has come in for criticism after the Seleção lost 2-1 to Mexico in the final of the 2012 Olympic Games tournament.

They struggled to a narrow 2-1 win over a weak Argentina side more recently, and Romario feels it is time for a change of leadership.

“Another horrible game for Brazil,” the former PSV Eindhoven and Barcelona man posted on his Facebook page after the latest fixture.

“If we continue with this team Brazil will not even get beyond the group stage of the World Cup. President, are you going to do something about it?

“How long are we going to keep embarrassing ourselves? The coach is weak, fearful and doesn’t select the players that he should.”

Romario also criticised the decision to leave Leandro Damião on the bench until the 68th minute, and described the Argentina line-up as “one of the worst of all time”.
