This time the former Seleção star scythed into the organisation committee, stating that he believes only six or seven stadia will be 100% ready.

As for the Confederations Cup, a year earlier, the footballer-turned-politition predicted that only five will have been completed completed in time

“Five of the twelve stadiums, maybe four or five, will be 100% ready for the Confederations Cup, at least if work continue as it is,” said Romario.

“Of the twelve stadiums, nine or ten at the most will be ready for the World Cup and, of these, only six or seven will be 100%.”

Romario’s argument is based upon inspection visits to the sites of the stadiums for the 2014 World Cup. He has visited 11 venues, missing only São Paulo, where work will start in November.

According to Romario, another concern for Brazil will be the question of urban mobility. He pointed out that only Rio de Janeiro is currently able to complete and fulfill its commitments to the World Cup in Brazil.

“My views, unfortunately, are not very positive. We have problems in the eleven venues that I have visited, especially with regard to urban mobility,” Romario continued.
