A clearly distressed Robinho has apologised for talking to a Spanish journalist about a potential move to Real Madrid.

The talented Brazilian is reportedly a target for both the Spanish giants and Chelsea but has now conceded that he was foolish to talk in such a candid fashion about his future.

Robinho’s mother is currently at the mercy of kidnappers and Robinho admits he should be concentrating his thoughts on ensuring her safety.

“The truth is that I said that I would like to play with Ronaldo but that doesn’t have to mean that it has to be Real Madrid and that I was talking like as if I had been already transferred to that team – like the Spanish media wanted to make the people understand,” said Robinho.

“At the moment I am not even playing for Santos because I can’t put my mind on football because my mother is still kidnapped.

”I only want her to be released and once that happens I am going to dress again in the Santos shirt.

“I am the only person that is going to decide where I am going to play in the future. Neither my family nor my agent are allowed to talk in my name about that.

”I am the only person that is going to decide if I stay or leave Santos.”
