LaLiga has accused Real Madrid of attacking referees, particularly after Madrid criticized referee Juan Martinez Munuera for allegedly ignoring anti-Vinícius Júnior chants in their 4-2 win against Osasuna.

In response to Madrid’s formal complaint to the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), LaLiga defended Munuera, asserting its support for him and condemning Madrid’s claims.

The RFEF backed Munuera, calling Madrid’s accusations “unfair” and confirming the incident had been noted. LaLiga’s statement emphasized its stance against Madrid’s complaint, stating,

“LaLiga expresses absolute rejection of Real Madrid’s complaint against referee Juan Martinez Munuera and supports Spanish referees.”

This issue adds to existing tensions between LaLiga and Madrid over various matters, including disagreements on the European Super League and TV rights revenue.

Madrid’s repeated criticisms of refereeing standards, often aired on Real Madrid TV, have fueled the dispute.

Last month, Sevilla accused Madrid of harassing officials, further highlighting the ongoing conflict within Spanish football.
