Bruno Guimarães finds himself in a delicate spot because he’s been given nine yellow cards throughout the season. Getting a tenth means he will sit out for two games as a penalty. Since January, after his ninth yellow card during a game against Manchester City, Bruno has been playing very carefully, trying not to get another yellow card.

Despite the threat, Bruno’s importance to the team is undeniable and with the team eyeing European competition and suffering from key midfield injuries, his presence on the pitch has become critical. Bruno has managed to play aggressively without earning a tenth yellow card in seven subsequent Premier League matches.

However, the pressure isn’t off yet. Premier League rules dictate that Bruno must avoid another booking in the next four matches against West Ham, Everton, Fulham, and Tottenham to escape suspension.

Eddie Howe, Newcastle’s manager, supports Bruno’s playing style. “He has to play that way,” Howe said, highlighting the need for Bruno to maintain his emotional and committed play.

Howe acknowledges Bruno’s frustration with previous bookings but views it as a growth opportunity. “It’s part of the learning process… we don’t want to lose him. Hopefully, he can keep his emotion under control and we can get through this period,” Howe added.

As Bruno faces these crucial next games, his challenge encapsulates more than personal discipline; it’s pivotal for Newcastle’s ambitions this season.
