In Jeddah, under the floodlights of King Abdullah Sports City, Al Hilal set a world record. The Saudi Arabian football club achieved their 28th consecutive victory, a feat unmatched by any top-tier team globally, with a 2-0 win over city rivals Al-Ittihad. This victory propelled them into the Asian Champions League semifinals with a commanding 4-0 aggregate.

Al Hilal’s triumph eclipsed the previous record of 27 consecutive wins, surpassing The New Saints of Wales and the legendary Ajax team of the early ’70s. Jorge Jesus, Al Hilal’s coach, celebrated the achievement. “This is truly an incredible achievement,” he stated, acknowledging the collective effort behind this historic moment.
