‘We are with Ronaldo until the death’ says Marcelo
Real Madrid left-back Marcelo has issued a rallying cry in support of teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, with the Portuguese star currently being investigated by tax authorities. The investigation has led to rumours that Ronaldo feels persecuted in Spain and may leave the club.
But long time teammate Marcelo insists that the ex-Manchester United forward has the full backing of his colleagues, “I have not spoken with Cristiano about this," Marcelo said. "He knows that his teammates are with him to the death. When he arrives we will speak with him and see how he is."
Ronaldo has yet to report for pre-season due to his involvement in the Confederations Cup. Marcelo also insisted there is no ill feeling between Madrid and Jose Mourinho, as the teams prepare to play a friendly in California.
“I've not seen [Mourinho] here yet," he said. "I never had any problems with him, have no reason for revenge. I played against him before, with no problem. It's always great to play against the best, he is one of those, and helped me a lot when he was at Madrid."
