Brazilian winger Michel Bastos will miss São Paulo’s Campeonato Paulista fixture against Mogi Mirim on Tuesday.
After the resubmission of the squad in the Barra Funda Training Center on Sunday morning, the player underwent medical examinations which showed a small stretch on the back muscle of his right thigh. Last weekend, Michel Bastos complained of muscle pain and had to be replaced by Carlinhos in the first half of the 1-0 defeat to Ponte Preta. And the concern of the technical committee about losing the player to injury was confirmed on Sunday. The player, who’s played in nine of the ten games this season, has started his treatment and is doing physiotherapy. Bastos must wait to see when he can return to the pitch, and to replace him, coach Edgardo Bauza can put Carlinhos in a more advanced position, as he did against Ponte Preta. São Paulo are back in training on Monday, and will face Mogi Mirim at the Pacaembu on Tuesday in the game that was postponed following the club’s participation in Copa Libertadores.
