Brazil coach Dunga has removed Paris Saint-Germain central defender Marquinhos and Real Madrid full-back Marcelo from his squad to face Argentina and Peru in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers this month.
Both players are injured, and the replacements have also been named by the coach; Arsenal centre-back Gabriel Paulista and Atlético Mineiro left-back Douglas Santos. Gabriel Paulista had previously been selected for Brazil’s friendly games against France and Chile in March earlier this year, and also for the September friendlies with United States and Costa Rica. Douglas Santos was named in the Olympic national squad for the upcoming friendlies in Recife and Belém, but he’s now been called up to the main squad.
Brazil takes on Argentina at the Estádio Monumental de Núñez, in Buenos Aires on November 12th, and then host Peru at Arena Fonte Nova five days later.
