Five Brazilian clubs ranked in world top 20 for membership size

Five Brazilian clubs, Internacional, Palmeiras, Corinthians, Grêmio and Cruzeiro have been ranked among the top 20 in the world in terms of the size of their club-memberships.

Internacional were the highest ranked of the Brazilians, coming in at number six with 136,980 members.

Palmieras were ninth, Corinthians 13th, while Grêmio came in 15th and Cruzeiro in 19th place. 

The spots between 20th and 30th were filled with seven more Brazilian sides: Santos, Sâo Paulo, Flamengo, Atlético-MG, Fluminenese, Bahia and Sport Recife.

The number one ranked club in the world was Benfica with 270,000 members, with Bayern Munich and Arsenal in second and third places respectively.
