Diego Costa has revealed how he almost joined Liverpool two years ago.
The burly striker has been in great form for Chelsea this season but it may well have been a different club that he played for had the move gone ahead. Liverpool made a £21 million bid in August 2013 but Costa decided to turn them down.
“I was close to leaving, Liverpool are a great team. But after fighting so hard and overcoming difficulties to get my place at Atletico, how could I leave? I thought it was very important to keep growing at the Colchoneros [Atletico Madrid], and play there for many years."
Manchester United and Arsenal also sent scouts to watch Costa but it was Chelsea who nabbed him after he won La Liga last year with Atlético Madrid.
