Parma secured a place in the Europa League play-offs yesterday in an extremely dramatic final day of the season in Serie A.

Brazilian-born Amauri was at the heart of the action, unsurprisingly, and his double in their 2-0 win over Livorno ensured they finished the league campaign in 6th position and therefore qualified for Europe.

Speaking after the game, the 33-year-old revealed his delight. Forza Italian Football quoted the former Juventus forward, he said: “I have no words.

“This week I was hoping to get a goal and I managed to do it. I’m happy for my family and for the fans.”

The Brazilian born Italian citizen started his team’s final fixture on the bench but was introduced in the 54th minute.

And it didn’t take Amauri long to find the net and his brace ensured he finished the league campaign with eight goals and ended his two-month drought without a Serie A goal.

“I was looking to get on, I did and I scored. It was such a great feeling to do,” the 33-year-old said.

“I’m really happy. These are the rewards the team gets after putting in the hard work, now I want to play in the Europa League.”
